If you're a CVS Shopper, you probably have at least heard of the phrase "rolling ExtraBucks". It's a commonly used phrase when talking about couponing at CVS, because it's a huge way you can save money by reducing your out of pocket cost, or the amount of money you pay at the register out of your own pocket.
If you can master rolling ExtraBucks at CVS, then you'll be able to walk out of the store with FREE or even better than FREE items all the time! If you're interested... just keep reading!
CVS has promotions where you buy a number of items or spend a certain $ amount on items, and you earn ExtraBucks rewards, which are linked to your CVS ExtraCare card. What's awesome about CVS is you can spend ExtraBucks on the same transaction where you earn ExtraBucks... that's where the term "rolling ExtraBucks" comes into play.
When you spend ECB (shorthand for ExtraBucks) and earn back the same or even greater amount of ECB, you have just rolled ECB and saved yourself out of pocket cost! That is how you can score legitimate FREE stuff and walk out of CVS!
The first step to being able to roll ECB, is to start fresh with a handful of ExtraBucks. The first time you decide start shopping at CVS, you will need to spend a little bit out of pocket at the register to get your hands on some. Once you have some ExtraBucks, you can begin rolling ExtraBucks...
Here's an example scenario for you...
First week at CVS:
- You purchase Colgate Mouthwash for $1.99 after using a $2/1 coupon
- You get back $2 ExtraBucks Rewards with purchase of one
- You spent $1.99 out of pocket, but now have $2 ECB in your pocket to spend
- You purchase Colgate Toothpaste for $1.99 after using a $1/1 coupon
- You get back $2 ExtraBucks Rewards with purchase of one
- You use the $2 ECB from your previous week to pay for this week, so you spend $0 out of pocket (except tax where applicable), and you still get back $2 ECB in your pocket to spend the next time you shop!
...And so on...
The main goal is to keep your out of pocket cost low by spending ExtraBucks, and then getting them back (AKA rolling ExtraBucks!)
